Background
A superb sound for the Soundlounge get- together: The CraftWork, Proximity Worldwide and BBDO Düsseldorf agencies have created a striking invitation poster which can easily be transformed into a flute.
Idea
The idea is simplicity itself: just a few simple hand movements are required in order to turn the colorful Soundlounge poster into a flute. You simply roll up the poster, attach the elastic bands provided, and fold out a mouthpiece. The perforated openings enable you to play the flute on this "print instrument". Print meets sound meets design: when rolled up, the poster features a drawing of a flute player.
As Steffen Gentis explains: "With the second Soundlounge poster we are again showing how posters can be both innovative and cross-media. The principal idea is that print can make an even greater impact when sound is involved." For the first Soundlounge event last year BBDO developed an advertising poster which was the first-ever print poster that responds to audible signals and their volume and could thus change its graphic interface. The poster has already been awarded a number of creativity prizes.
The second Soundlounge, which was held in Düsseldorf on September 6 in Café del Sol, organized by a team headed by Steffen Gentis, together with several Düsseldorf-based sound studios: nhb Studios, Studio Funk, Sprachlabor Audioproduktionen, and Tro. The Soundlounge underscores the importance of sound, music and noise for advertising campaigns. It is a "special edition" of the Regielounge (Directors' Lounge), the number one get- together for Germany's advertising film industry.
