Background
The client is Ocean52, a Barcelona-based beverage startup that devotes 52 percent of its profits to ocean conservancy.
As a startup, Ocean52 media channels are small compared to big traditional channels used by famous beverage brands. We’re talking about table mats, postcards, flyers, cardboard glasses, wild posting. The client wanted to create postcards to place them in restaurants and surf shops.
Idea
By 2050, there will be more plastic and trash in the world’s oceans than fish. On World Oceans Day, the initiative was launched, “Postcards From the Oceans,” that takes a page from the glitz and glamour of global travel to put the critical issue in full view.
A diver swims in the Red Sea surrounded by plastic bottles. A couple stand on a wooden boat in the Baltic sea among oil slicks and factory pollution. A women is about to dive in a black ocean with sea species covered in oil.
These are all images from a collection of beautifully illustrated, stylish postcards from Ocean52, a Europe-based beverage startup that devotes 52 percent of its earnings to ocean conservancy.
The postcards were sent to 52 world leaders including the secretary-general of the United Nations, the U.S. secretary of energy, Pope Francis, and the administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency.
