Background

People don't know the risks of online banking and Febelfin wanted to make them aware of it

Idea

An installation was set up in Brussels and random passers-by invited in to experience for themselves the incredible abilities of Dave the mind reader.

Dave was not only able to tell complete strangers about their friends and families, he was also able to tell them how they had spent their money.

€200 Euros on alcohol. €300 on new clothes.

People were amazed. Then shocked when all was revealed. The source of Dave’s power was their online behaviours. Their entire lives could be found on the web.

In making the point, Febelfin were able to urge everyone to be vigilant and to drive traffic to http://safeinternetbanking.be where they can find out how to be safer.

Results

6 million views on YouTube after four weeks.

Our Thoughts

Forget being an editor or a creative director, you can’t help but watch this video as a punter and feel shocked at how much data we all give out about ourselves without thinking.

Malcolm Gladwell, author of ‘The Tipping Point’ et al has said that he does not tweet and has no Facebook page because, as yet, the digital revolution is in its infancy and we do not yet understand how to manage it.

In Cannes this year, Duval Guillaume won 14 Lions, 8 of them Gold. Next year, they will among the metal again.
