Background
Passage du Désir is the biggest chain of erotic shops in France. For their fifth anniversary, they had a number of attractive price reductions for shoppers who went online.
Idea
To advertise the sale, an interactive banner advertised an ‘exceptional price reduction’.
They were invited to scrolldown to the bottom of the page to see the offer.
But it was a long, long page and visitors had to scroll down for a very long time. Eventually, after a great deal of scrolling, they got to a line, asking: ‘Tired of using your finger?’
The solution, buy a vibrator at the special discount price.
Results
Number of visitors to the site increased 35%. Sales increased 200%.
Our Thoughts
Some people might think this is rude, others will find it funny. Either way, it’s a breath of fresh air on the tired old category of the banner. It might not be mass market advertising but a sales hike of 200% would have turned M. Pruvot into a convert to marketing communications
