Background
McCann Europe noticed that across the region many hundreds of billboards were empty as a result of quarantine.
Why not use those empty sites to give power and strength to the few people out on the streets who might see them, the doctors and medical staff still going to work every day?
Idea
Close to 100 posters were created by different McCann offices across Europe in collaboration with the outdoor contractors.
There was a massively diverse interpretation of the ‘Thank you, doctors’ theme.

Our Thoughts
The rather beautiful posters created by illustrator Wanda Hutira for McCann Bucharest depicting doctors and nurses as saints were criticized by the Romanian Orthodox Church.
Sigh. Like the video of NHS nurses in Devon doing a spoof haka to symbolize their determination to take on then virus and win got slammed by too-too-serious people in New Zealand for ‘cultural appropriation’.
This pandemic has brought out the best in some, and the worst in others, hasn’t it?
