Background
When Finland celebrated 100 years of independence, on 6 December 2017, celebrations took place all over the country and everybody wanted to take part. People. Countries. And brands. To get people’s attention on this noisy day the idea was to take Mastercard to Snapchat and create an exclusive branded geofilter.
Idea
The creative idea was to take the iconic brand promise – Priceless – and give it new life on Snapchat. Through a well placed and timed branded filter on 6 December a welcome tribute was made to Finland. The target audience was also inspired to describe what they think is Priceless about their country.
Results
In a single day, 589,000 people on Snapchat in Finland were reached – which is 75% of all Snapchat users in the country and more than 10% of the entire Finnish population. It was also clear that the target group embraced the idea and wanted to interact with the message. The branded filter was shared 180,410 times in Snapchat’s Chat and 10,306 times in Snapchat’s Story within a few hours.
