Background
As small business owners are swamped with direct mail campaigns every day a lot of mailings go unnoticed. The mission was to create something that made it easier to get the business owner's attention and that could serve as a conversation piece when following up with a call or visit.
Idea
To showcase the service the alarm company Sector Alarm provides, an alarm was installed in an envelope. The alarm went off when the letter was opened (the alarm rang for 8 seconds). It helped grab recipient's attention, and helped make the sales reps cold calls a little warmer.
Results
Sales reps reported whopping 100% of recipients that opened the letter remembered it when the sales reps contacted them. The sale increased with 28%.
