Background
In 2012, after eight years of growth, the airline Vueling decided that it was time to start a new chapter in the company’s history and position itself as one of Europe’s leading airlines. It chose 22 October to communicate this to the press with a spectacular event that signalled a new beginning for the company: if Vueling wanted to do something amazing, it had to do it the only way it knew how: by flying.
Idea
In Barcelona’s Museum of Contemporary Art was hosted the exhibition titled “Dreaming. Flying. Growing.” It offered 220 guests an experience like nothing else on earth: The largest flight simulator ever created. Five months in the making, the installation for the event consisted of a screen on each side measuring 40 metres long and four metres high, one screen at the front with a diameter of 20 metres, and 12 high-definition projectors. The guests were totally surrounded and provided with an incredible experience.
Results
The event was streamed with simultaneous interpreting into three languages and watched by more than 50,000 viewers. Vueling also changed its entire corporate image that night at its main airports, signalling the start of the new campaign and showcasing the new face of the company. (DATA) More than 400 reports in global media with an estimated audience of 98,956,640 people.
