Background
Union Station, one of Kansas City's most history buildings was approaching it's 100th anniversary, but with declining foot traffic, needed a way to remind citizens why it was worth celebrating.
Idea
Encourage citizens to visit Kansas City's historic Union Station by bringing its most compelling history to life. Reenactments of the stations biggest events were filmed from the past 100 years and an augmented reality app was created where users could relive history in the exact spot it took place. Not only were users able to interact with the exhibit, they could be a part of it, inserting themselves into each scene where they could capture photos to share on social media.
Results
Foot traffic not seen for decades 1000+ downloads and 30,000 in-app interactions on launch weekend alone Visitors are spending an average of 1 hour reliving history
