Background

For the first time in history the record-braking 6 million international visitors entered Georgia (population – 3,7 million) throughout one year (2016). Based on this fact Georgian National Tourism Administration (GNTA) wanted:

• To Inform and inspire population of Georgia about the growth of tourism – to rally around the sense of hospitality.

• To strengthen the global positioning of Georgia – as of the most hospitable tourist destination worldwide.

Idea

To celebrate this remarkable landmark and position Georgia as the most HOSPITABLE tourist destination worldwide, it was decided to actually SHOW – how hospitable Georgians really are:

• By spotlighting the special reception of a symbolic GUEST – the 6-Millionth international visitor [identified in collaboration with the customs office and state services*], by a symbolic HOST – the Prime Minister of Georgia.

• By introducing [under this spotlight] an Ultimate Guide of the host-generated recommendations for all tourists – where to go and what to eat in Georgia: www.hostme.ge – according to which the lucky visitor's reception dinner menu was served and his following 1-week trip around the country was planned.

* Identification of the Special Guest was carried out in collaboration with the customs office and other state services – through detecting the flight, which potentially carried the 6 Millionth international visitor and then choosing from single passengers of that flight one that seemed to be the best possible match for this role. All stunt reactions are true, as the guy is not an actor, is completely unaware of what's going on and until meeting with the Prime Minister thinks it's his host friend's surprise-meeting arrangement.

Results

• Over 20 countries covered 6 Millionth visitor's trip to Georgia

• 130 Million+ media impressions

• 135K+ host-generated recommendations at www.hostme.ge

• + 25% increase in tourist flow vs. the same period of the previous year

• Literally whole Georgia got involved in the campaign, that turned Jesper into a real celebrity and actually made him move to Georgia.
