Background

In today’s world, working from home is the new normal for millions of office workers.

Many are winning the daily productivity battle in their home offices. But not all home offices are equally quiet. Often, the volume levels indoors can make a busy street sound soothing.

Idea

Noise-O-Meter measures ambient noise levels and instantaneously converts the decibels into discount coupons. The louder your home office, the bigger the discount available on a new set of Bose noise- cancelling headphones.

Both this and the TV spot (“Dear Neighbour, who likes to play the accordion to us all, who watches only war movies…in surround sound, I’m glad to hear you’re okay.”) were made at home.

Notice anything weird about this campaign No? I’ll tell you. It’s the only case study in the entire magazine actually trying to sell stuff. Glory be! Since Covid turned up, brands have been tiptoeing around public sensibilities, doing everything except get us to give them money. But new circumstances bring new problems and Bose have spotted the opportunity to sell a solution to the racket your neighbours make. And the louder the basta**s are, the bigger the discount. It’s perfect.
