Background

The days and weeks leading up to Christmas are an enormous challenge for marketing activities. In the clutter, it is hard to stand out from the competition unless you have an idea that is both charming and appropriate.

Idea

What happens at Christmas? You write Santa Claus a wish list of all the things you would most like to have.

And that’s what the agency did, wrote a wish list with the name of the recipient’s company as the biggest wish of them all, to have them as a client. All Santa did was to pass this on to the individual concerned.

The agency’s different services were integrated into the list and the whole personalized with a Post-It note message.

And, lastly, a sweet was enclosed because Santa always brings a present.

Results

370  mailings went out leading to 7 appointments and one invitation to pitch.

Our Thoughts

What I like about this is its honesty. Most agency mailers are clever and self-knowing; there are claims about how they can improve ‘bottom-line performance’, ‘build the brand and deliver sales results’ (I’m quoting from actual pieces here) or a case history or two, ‘We did it for Bloggo, we can do it for you.’ This is just the naked truth. We’d like your business, but expressed with charm.
