Background

Lisbon Airport had undertaken a large expansion scheme of its facilities. As part of this expansion, the commercial area (duty free shop) had been subject to repair and improvement works for several months. In order to mark the end of the works and the inauguration of the new space, Proximity Portugal’s mission was to develop a mailing inviting key individuals to be present at the opening event.

Idea

Lisbon Airport had a new look. To dramatise the fact that the construction work had just been completed, and to associate the mailing with the recently renovated area, guests received an invite that left a residue of fresh paint on their fingers.

Our Thoughts

You want to tell everyone you have a brand spanking new airport – so you send ‘em a mailer on which the paint is still wet. Lovely. But if this had gone out in the UK, you can bet there would have been cries of outrage from people unamused to get sticky fingers
